Here are 3 recipes for cooking large pearl tapioca pudding:

Stovetop, Double Boiler Method:

Large Pearl Tapioca Pudding (AKA Eyeball Pudding)

SERVES 8

3 1/2 ounces large pearl tapioca
5 cups milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs, separated
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Bring milk to a boil in a double boiler over simmering water.
Add salt and tapioca to milk.
Stirring constantly, cook tapioca in double boiler for 1 hour or until tapioca is clear and milk is thickened.
Beat egg whites with 1/2 cup sugar until firm peaks, set aside.
Beat yolks with remaining 1/2 cup sugar.
Temper yolks with some of the hot custard.
Stir tempered yolks into hot custard, cook over double boiler an additional 15 minutes.
Stir in vanilla.
Remove from heat and gently fold in egg whites.
Pour tapioca into a serving bowl, cover and chill.

Slow Cooker Method using Brown Sugar and Walnuts with Whipped Cream Topping:

Large Pearl Tapioca Pudding

Ingredients:
1 c Large pearl tapioca
1 1/2 ts Vanilla extract
4 c Water
1 c Chopped English walnuts
3 c Brown sugar
Whipped Cream Topping
1 ds Salt

——————————————————————————–
Large Pearl Tapioca Pudding Instructions:

This is another unique pudding and a very old recipe.
Cooking the large pearl tapioca slowly for hours in a brown-sugar sauce gives this dessert an intense flavor.
The additon of English walnuts provides a satisfying crunch.
Frequently this pudding was cooked in the oven or in a double boiler, but get ideal results, requiring no watching, with a crockpot.
Place the tapioca and water in a crockpot.
Soak overnight.
Do not drain tapioca.
Add brown sugar and salt and cook for 12 hours on low.
Stir once in a while.
The tapioca becomes clear and the texture is gelatinous at the end of the cooking period.
Let cool.
Add vanilla, a bit more salt if needed, and the walnuts.
Transfer to a shallow serving bowl and spread top liberally with Whipped Cream Topping.

NOTE: Large pearl tapioca requires long, slow cooking to become transparent.
And each pearl has a tiny bit of starch in the middle of it that sometimes never completely cooks up which, though edible, looks unpleasant.

The crockpot is absolutely perfect for cooking these big pearls–and that little starchy bead completely disappears.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army
Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008)

Plot: The mythical world starts a rebellion against humanity in order to rule the Earth, so as Hellboy and his team returns they must save the world from the rebellious creatures. Now, as the creatures who inhabit the spiritual realm gear-up for an all out attack on the human plane, the only one capable of saving the Earth is a tough-talking hellspawn rejected by both worlds.

In Hellboy II, why does the color of Liz's fire change?
In Hellboy Liz’s fire is blue, but in The Golden Army, it changes to red/orange. Is this because she has more control over her power in Hellboy II?

I also noticed that. It probably has something to do with that. It was never too specific on why the details of her ability changed, but I think it was because she was gaining more control over her powers.
When it comes to characters in movies/stories having a special power, is seems like some of their characteristics change when they gain more control over them. (ex. Jean Grey in X-Men: The Last Stand, her eyes completely blacked over when she was losing the struggle of control over her powers.)

Hope this helps!
Best of Luck!! ( ;

Tax Question: US citizen working abroad?
I will be going on an assignment overseas and have some tax questions. I’m a US citizen and own a house in my home state in the Northeast. I will be renting an apartment in Austria and working in Belgium during the workweek (flying back to Austria on weekends). I’ll probably spend 192 days in Belgium, 144 days in Austria, 22 days in US and 7 days in the UK. I may do this for 1-2 years tops and then return to the US. Do I file taxes only in the USA? If I spend more time in the US, do I avoid paying taxes in these foreign countries? If so, how many days in the US? What would be the ideal set up for least tax liability, even if it means staying in one of these countries for longer. Ideally I would only owe US taxes, but wanted to know what the law says. Yearly salary would be over $100K. Employer is US based.

If you work in another country, you pay tax to that country. Within the EU, you would not have to pay tax to the country of residence, if different.

If you are a US citizen, you must report ALL your income to the IRS, regardless of location where you worked. However, you can claim a deduction for the amount of tax paid to the country where you worked. Since European income taxes are generally higher than the US, this would probably bring your US tax liability down to zero. But you still have to file.

Christopher Columbus: Hero or Villain?
Here’s an interesting questions that everyone wants to know but is afraid to ask. In our culture he is an target, a blame of all terrible that has happened to America. It goes as far as people even protesting Columbus Day, caling him a rapist, murderer, etc. Yet people fail get the real facts, the actual evidence on him and what he did, they just go by personal opinions that they hear and pass them on. It is a estimated fact that when Columbus reached the Americas in 1492 there were aprox. 30-50 million Natives, by the end of 1500’s around 2 million were left. they mostly died of diseases the Europeans brought with them.A fact that the spread of diseases was on both sides, Europeans bought over smallpox and measles but also the Natives gave them syphilis. Now the Europeans, not just Columbus who I’m sure did not go around the Islands trying to infect everyone. Those Europeans were the Spanish Conquistators who heard about the New World and it’s Gold, who were interest in a conquest instead a voyage like Columbus. Just in case someone didn’t know, Columbus sailed out for the Spanish Rolalty to seek a shorter route to the east indies (Asia) to make their spice trade shorter and easier. It was an exploration voyage not a conquest to take over America because he didn’t even know America existed. Once Europeans heard of the riches the New World had, they all swarmed in to get their share. So i think it’s unfair to potray Columbus as a villain, rapist (there is no evidence he had raped anyone) and even in his own personal blogs, he has stated clearly that he did not allow his crew to rape, trade unfairly with the native. So don’t follow peoples personal opinion, follow the actual facts. Yes Columbus is no saint but compared to Hernan Cortes and what he did, he might as well be.

Columbus was known as a hustler and flim-flam man all over Europe, people tried to warn the Spanish Crown about him. Spain had expelled the Jews in 1490, meaning the bankers had taken their gold and went elsewhere, so Ferdinand and Isabella were ripe for a crap shoot.

Columbus had a horrible reputation as a sailor, too. He treated his crews unfairly, falsified logs and couldn’t navigate (as he proved when he accidentally "discovered" the West Indies). Everyone knew the world was round, how big it was and that there was a land mass between Europe and Asia. The vikings had built a town in North America 500 years before Columbus, and the Irish monk, Brendan, had been here several hundred years before that.

Columbus is mainly famous for being Italian and his "day" is every bit as political as MLK day or "Hispanic Pride Day".

He was certainly no hero.

For those who have seen "The Midnight Meat Train"…?
Can you give me a small review in your own words?

Is it any good?

Thanks.

LOL@Suggested category. Food & Drink > Vegetarian & Vegan

I thought it was a decent film. It definitely kept my interest as far as wanting to know what the heck was going on. It wasn’t scary but it had an eerie feel to it. Vinnie Jones did a great job as the "butcher". I’d say it’s worth watching.

And that is funny that that was the category suggested considering.

it’s an okay movie, very bloody. I mostly stuck around to find out what the hell was going on but was disappointed by the ending.

Should i leave my boyfriend?
I need some advice from someone who doesn’t know me which is why i have created an account. I’ve been with my boyfriend for about two years. Please read through if you have the time and let me know what you think :)

1. I’ve caught him trying to convince another girl to break up with her boyfriend to ‘get with him’. He used words like ‘cutie, baby, sweetie’ – the way he talks to me :( . When i confronted him, he said it was a joke.

2. New years – he mysteriously disappeared at the party with his EX. (who i know for a fact sleeps around).

3. Watched a porno with another girl (but was his brothers girlfriend), who hates me and tried to convince him to break up with me.

4. When he gets messages, he moves away so he can read it first. Sometimes, he deletes the message… His phone messages are always just me… looks like someones been deleting messages again?

5. His other ex texts him suggestively often.. asks him to take her driving at night.

6. A random girl "K" messaged him saying "hey sexy can you call me now babe" and he replied "i tried calling you hun whats wrong girl? xx" I was with him ALL day, did he walk away to try call her and reply? wtf.

^ Lots of small things like that.

but the big thing that recently happened which is making me think

I was with him, and i looked on his camera (cause i usually take lots of photos on his camera), There were two photos i hadn’t seen… A drunk girl in his car and then the same drunk girl on his bed? I asked him about it and he avoided the question.. i kept asking and he replied "i dunno". He then convinced me that she DID NOT stay over, he had given her a lift home and she left her wallet in the car so he went to give it to her the next day.
He invited her into the house? and went into the room to sit? (yes his stories had alot of holes in it)

Then i looked at the photos again. The first one was taken at 4am and the second one was taken at 9am. Obviously she stayed over. After i pointed that out, he admitted it. But he said they didnt do anything, she just slept in his bed with him? both drunk?

He has given my chlyamydia two times and he had genital warts recently (thank god it had not come to me).

WTF is going on? He usually is a nice caring boyfriend and i enjoy his company… He says he loves me and there is nobody else but why does this make me so doubtful…

I was with him just before and his mate named in his phone ‘matt’ send him a picture msg of a young girls body posing in the mirror with a phone…….

He never replies or calls when he’s out.
But he expects me to message him every second when i’m out and goes crazy if i don’t.
He does all this shit and if i did it, i’d be dead.

this is just killing my head.
Now if you have read all this, and have a serious thought, let me know what you think.
I don’t know whats wrong with me :( When i write it all our it seems obvious, i should leave him. But it’s so hard… He’s a big part of my life…
I remember him calling me and telling me to go home (because i went out with some girls), otherwise he’d F my friend?
i hate him so much but i love him…

I guess it is pretty obvious what to do..
Now i wonder if anyone reading this knows an easy way out? probably not hey.. worth a try to ask i guess…

I just read number 1 and if any women tried something simliar with me she would be gone.

Get rid of his loser ass before he gives you AIDS.
Kenneth | Feb 01, 2010

Pretty sure he’s cheating. Dump him now. He has given you chlyamydia twice where did it come from if he’s not cheating? You deserve better than him.
Jeremiah164 | Feb 01, 2010

I didn’t finish reading all what you wrote cause at the 1st point I got you an answer!
Yes leave him, he’s just using you!
You deserve better than him.. Don’t even call him your boyfriend!!
Tada..This Ez Me | Feb 01, 2010

Dump Him, he is deffo cheating, or a player. And when you actually find out IT WILL HURT! so just leave him and don’t talk to him, that should get him off his high horse. move on and find someone less ughhhh!
T | Feb 01, 2010

You deserve better. I know its hard after two years to just cut ties, but you don’t deserve all of this.

Believe in yourself – leave. You will find someone who is going to treat you perfectly, no need to waste time with this loser.
Midwest | Feb 01, 2010

Two years? Ouch, that’s going to hurt.
But, yes, you really should break up with him.
From what you’ve said, he doesn’t sound very faith full or trustworthy does he?
Morgan | Feb 01, 2010

yes
Yyy | Feb 01, 2010

I think, and you probably already know, that you should leave him..What boyfriend brings another woman home, and sleeps with her in the same bed regardless them doing anything?

Who the hell watches porn with another woman?

I know what you mean, he does this, and expects you to blow it off like he does, and when you don’t, he goes into a protective state…worthless.

Good luck.

my boyfriend is on prole and he had on his otis page that he is held under custody, what does that mean?

EVERYONE on parole is technically ‘under the custody’ of their parole officer. That means the parole officer has the right to go ANYWHERE your boyfriend is and search anything he has. The parole officer also has the right to return your boyfriend to actual custody for nearly any reason.

Watermelon
Watermelon (2008)

IMDB rating: 4.80

Plot: Newly divorced, Achilles Pumpkinseed lives alone in the house left to him by his deceased mother. Depressed and adrift, he spends his days smoking pot and watching television, usually alone but sometimes with his equally rootless friend Patroclus. Although he owns a small business, Achilles cannot face working any more than he can muster the energy to deal with the world he used to be a part of. Then one day, an unexpected visitor named Homer shows up at Achilles’ doorstep, bearing an unusual gift: an old dilapidated camping trailer painted like a child’s image of a watermelon. Insisting that delivering this improbable gift to Achilles is his “mission”, sworn to at knife-point for the young man’s hated stepfather Creon, Homer forces Achilles to accept the bizarre object. As fate would have it, the Watermelon acts as a magnet, luring all manner of oddball humanity to Achilles’ home – a flaky artist, a pushy photo-journalist, a pedantic television reporter, and even the ghost of his beloved mother. At first, Achilles rejects the intrusions, until one day he discovers a young runaway sleeping in the trailer. Rather than chase her off as he did the others, Achilles invites the vulnerable Persephone into his home… and his life. Eleventh-hour appearances from his ex-wife and deranged step-sister ensure that Achilles’ life will never be the same. Until it is. Sort of.

An unvaccinated stray w/out respiratory disease, is there any danger being in the same room as my other cat?
This little (….more like 10 LB 1 year old !) is a little beat up and on antibiotics but unfortunately wasn’t given a distemper shot at neutering today. However, he doesn’t appear to be symptomatic of an upper respiratory disorder (have watery or sticky discharge from the nose and eyes, nose and mouth sores, inflamed eyes, fever, etc.).

So I have decided to let him stay a member of the household, at least for the near term, and will schedule a full clinical soon. But in the meantime, in spite of trying to keep him quarantined from the other cats…there have already been a couple of escapes. Is there any hazard without sneezing or other the exchange of other air borne particles ?

Right now he’s a stray male cat I brought in from the cold and seems a little droopy but content enough to be hanging out in my room around the litter box…
He is negative for FIV/FeLV. So far no worms test but good appetite, weight and no abnormal anal behavior.

Before he is up to date on his shots and has had a full clinical, try to keep him as best as possible isolated from the other cats. He could have other diseases besides just an upper respiratory infection.. i.e. worms, feline leukemia, etc.

i’m sure your dog and cats should be alright together, as far as i no i don’t think dogs can pass on any disease to cats and the same vise versa

I wouldn’t let him around your cat until he’s been tested for feline AIDS and FelV (the feline leukemia virus).

They’re both highly contagious and common. There something called a combo test, its tests for AIDS, FelV and Heartworms. It only take 3 drops of blood and can be done on an outpatient basis.

I can’t say that it’s 100% safe but I’d let him be in the house with mine. As a matter of fact, I’ve done the same thing. The new guy has been to the vet and looks healthy enough I wouldn’t worry much. I usually just watch closely for fights because new and old residents tend to test each other in those first days.

I have cats with upper respiratory infections they are very contagious. Put him someplace like a bathroom so he gets "visited’ fairly often during the times you’re home. You can clean and disinfect this area more easily. There’s the risk of other diseases it’s best he not be allowed to fraternize. Most vets suggest at least a two weeks isolation period a month is better. The other thing is that if he does become a permanent resident your cats will like him better and vice versa if you make the introduction very gradual.

IMO until he has all shots, been neutered and tested for FELV, then he should be confined to a room where he has no other contact with your pets. If you have to put him in a cage or kennel. But I would NOT let him around other cats.
