where can I find this poem? Cremation of Sam McGee?
part of it goes like this….
There are strange things done in the midnight sun,
by the men who moil for gold,
the arctic trails know secret tales,
that would make your blood run cold,
the northern lights have seen queer sights,
but the queerest they ever did see,
was the night on the marge of lake le barge,
I cremated Sam McGee.
now Sam McGee was from Tennessee ,
where the cotton blooms and blows,
why he left his home to rome round poles,
God only knows,
he always cold but the arctic gold seemed to hold him like a spell,
and he’d often say in his homely way,
that he’d rather burn in hell,
One mid day we were marching our way,
over the dawson trail,
and talk of cold , through the parkas fold,
it stabbed like a driven nail,
THAT’S ALL I CAN REMEMBER…AND IT’S MAKING ME NUTS..
If you know where I can find(esp. on line) it or who wrote it, I appreciate the help…thanks in advance
